Team continues to soar with win over Mid Atlantic Christian University

Box Score
With a strong second-half effort, the Lady Bruins remained unbeaten in 2015 as the team soared to an 85-46 win over Mid Atlantic Christian University on Friday afternoon in Kissimmee, Florida. "We're showing good patience with the ball and making good decisions," Coach Mike LeViere said. "Everyone is contributing on and off the court and it shows in how we play."

The Bruins were coming off a strong 69-28 win over the University of Valley Forge on Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Johnson University Invitational. Their opponent for Friday afternoon would be the Mid Atlantic Christian University Mustangs who were 2-10 on the season, but were coming off a 64-60 win over Clearwater Christian College on Thursday.

In the opening minutes, the two teams remained close as both tried to establish control. The Bruins were able to execute their offensive sets while working the ball for the open shot. Eventually the team would build a 21-14 lead before the Mustangs came charging back to cut into the lead. Bruins' forward Brianna Delaney recorded two three-point plays late in the half to help give the Bruins a 38-24 cushion at the break.

"We talked at halftime about limiting our turnovers and being smarter with the ball," Coach LeViere said. "We wanted to focus on doing the little things like playing good defense and rebounding."

The halftime adjustments worked as the Bruins came out with a 24-6 run to take control of the game. The team spread the ball around for shots as each player contributed to the stat line. The Bruins defense was suffocating in the second half as the team recorded 9 steals. Despite their efforts, the Mustangs were not able to climb their way back into the game as the Bruins kept the momentum in their favor. The final buzzer handed the Lady Bruins an impressive 85-46 victory, their 3rd straight win.

"This was another good team win for us," Coach LeViere said. "We showed a lot of unselfish play and our offense consistently moved the ball to the open man to score. I am proud of the way we came out and executed today."

With the win, the Bruins improve to 6-10 on the season. The team will wrap up their three-game Florida road trip tomorrow afternoon as they battle rival Clearwater Christian College at 4 p.m.
