The Bruins were coming off a win on Tuesday night and entered their game on Saturday with a 7-8 record. The Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University came in with a 1-8 record, including a loss on Friday night.

From the opening tip, the Bruins came out strong with an 10-0 run as Kendra Jeffcott muscled her way through the lane for points to give the Bruins the lead. The Bruins defense stood strong as well as they held the Mustangs scoreless for over 5 minutes to open the game. The team was able to force the ball inside, and capitalized on their mismatches to gain points. As the first quarter ended, the Bruins had a 18-8 lead.

In the second quarter, the Bruins tried to switch things up defensively and in personnel as they looked to continue to build their lead. The team continued to play well defensively in limiting the Mustangs shots, and used their transition game to convert layups. Right before the half, the Mustangs got several three-point baskets from Talethia Alexander to cut back into the lead as the Bruins led 29-20 at the break.

"We didn't rebound as well as we wanted to, but rebounding was key for us in this game," Bruins guard Sha'Ron Brunson said. "Get it and go in hitting the outlet which worked really well in getting us transition baskets."

In the second half, Julia Wright knocked down a three-point shot to spark a 7-0 run to begin the half as the Bruins continued to build their lead. The team was able to use their defense as a great avenue in transition to push the ball up the floor for easy buckets. Kendra Jeffcott scored again in the paint to give the Bruins a 51-32 lead going into the final quarter.

The Bruins continued to pour it on in the final quarter as the team pushed the ball up the floor for points. The Bruins offense was firing on al cylinders while defensively the team forced the Mustangs into 20 turnovers. As the final buzzer rang, the Bruins celebrated with a dominant 73-45 victory at home.

"Overall we did good and I felt like we did a good job with some things we wanted to work on," Coach Mike LeViere said. "Hope we can continue to take the good things from today and continue on in the season."

Kendra Jeffcott led the Bruins with 22 points and 5 rebounds while Sha'Ron Brunson finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds in the game. The Bruins won the rebounding margin 33-26 and shot 48% from the field. With the win, the Bruins improve to 8-8 on the season and will play their final game of the semester next Thursday afternoon as they welcome Truett-McConnell College.
