Gleed finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds as
the team defeated Warren Wilson College 76-72.
The team came into the game after suffering a tough road loss to Erskine College last week. Still, the Bruins were determined to bounce back as they welcomed the 11-10 Owls to Greenville. The team would be without Brianna Delaney, who injured her ankle in practice this week leaving a hole in the team's post position. The team was determined to get back to their winning ways as they took the court in front of the Bruin faithful.

In the opening minutes, Hannah Tompkins scored the first five points for the Bruins as the team jumped out to a 7-3 advantage. The Owls came storming back with a 10-0 run as Warren Wilson closed out the first quarter up 22-17.

As the second quarter began, the Bruins scored back to back buckets to tie the game and continued to capitalize on their opportunities offensively. Sha'Ron Brunson provided the spark with back to back three's to give the Bruins the lead. The team rode momentum to take a slim halftime lead 37-36.

The two teams traded baskets and lead in the opening minutes of the third quarter as the score remained close. Danasia Dumas provided the scoring boost for the Owls with several outside shots and drives to the basket. The Bruins responded through the play of Kendra Jeffcott and company as BJU matched the Owls basket for basket. The team was dealt a serious blow as Bridgette Gleed landed awkwardly on her ankle, causing her to exit the game. As the buzzer sounded to end the quarter, the Bruins clung to a 54-50 advantage.

Both teams knew this game would go down to the wire as they prepared for one last quarter. The team got an added boost from Gleed as she re-entered the game and provided a spark for the team with 8 points in the 4th quarter. She also helped the Bruins defensively and in rebounding. Gleed scored on a layup with just over 4 minutes to go to give the Bruins a 66-62 lead. From there, the Owls tried to claw their way back into the game, but the Bruins defense stood strong to force tough shots. Key free throw shooting down the stretch helped the team hang on for a 76-72 victory over Warren Wilson College.

"What kept us in the game was our defense," Coach Mike LeViere said. "At times our decision making struggled tonight, but when we had players go down someone else stepped up."

Kendra Jeffcott led the Bruins with 13 points and 6 rebounds while Maggi Ford and Bridgette Gleed finished with 10 points. Sha'Ron Brunson scored 12 points and Julia Wright added 11. The team allowed the Owls to outrebound them 46-38 but still played well enough defensively to come away with the win. The team improves to 12-10 on the season and will welcome Allen University on Friday night for their next game.
