Box Score
The red-hot Bruins women's volleyball team kept up their winning ways as the team defeated Johnson University of Florida in straight sets 3-0 for their 5th straight victory on Saturday afternoon. "We finished out this road trip with a solid victory today," Head Coach Vickie Denny said. "I was especially pleased with how well the players did coming off the bench making significant contributions. It was a great team win."

The Bruins were coming off an impressive performance on Friday as they won three straight matches over NCCAA region opponents Pensacola Christian College, Trinity College and Trinity Baptist College. The Bruins dropped just one set throughout the entire day of competition. The team started off the season with a 1-2 record, but have since begun to find their groove as the team has put together some impressive performances.

In the opening set against the Suns, the Bruins were able to string together several great scoring runs as Kendra Jeffcott and Saleena Walker powered the Bruins offense with kills. The team rode that momentum to take the first set 25-15. As the second set began, the Bruins came out strong again and built a sizable lead. The Suns couldn't seem to slow down the Bruins offense as BJU took the second set handily 25-9.

The Bruins were looking for their third straight sweep as they began the third set of the match. They wouldn't be denied as Olivia Vosburgh recorded 12 assists in the set to help feed the attackers for points. The team played well defensively as each player did well in their role in the flow of the game. The Bruins won the third set 25-11 taking the match 3-0 for their 5th straight win.

"We are learning and we are coming together as a team," Coach Denny said. "We'll need to continue to bring our best as we move forward but we are looking forward to coming home and playing in front of our home crowd again this week."

Saleena Walker had 10 kills on the day while Kendra Jeffcott finished with 8 kills and 3 blocks. Rachel Tubbs led the team with 26 assists in the match. With the win, the Bruins move to 6-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. Next up, the team will welcome Brewton Parker University (NAIA) to Greenville on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
