The Bruins shooting sports teams opened the 2019-20 season on Saturday as the team competed in the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation (GSSF) match in Talladega, Alabama. Several Bruins placed high in individual categories with the team of Nathanael Seibert, Tyler Moritsch and Brandon Jackson placing 3rd overall in the masterstock category.
"Out of a field of several hundred shooters, I was proud of the way our team performed," Bruins Head Coach Dan Seibert said. "Our new team members also shot very well for their first match. Nothing beats your first experience at a match and that is what everyone will remember."
In individual categories, Tyler Moritsch placed 6th in the unlimited category and 8th in the civiilian category. His performance was the only top-ten finish individually for the team on the day. Senior captain Nathanael Seibert placed 36th in the unlimited category and 55th in masterstock.
Two Bruins groupings were able to place well as the team of Jonathan Urwin, Connor LeViere and Tyler Bradley placed 4th in the civilian category with the team of John Morrissey, Bryce Parker, and Alexis Canen placing 5th in the same category.
Overall, it was a good performance for the teams at their first event of the 2019-20 season. Next up, the Bruins will compete in another GSSF match on October 12 in Charleston, South Carolina.
