The Bruins women's golf team is ready to get back on the course as the team released their schedule for the
2021 Spring season. The Bruins ended the fall season well as junior Kate Matthews earned her second-straight individual qualification for the NCCAA National Tournament where she finished 13th overall on the individual leaderboard.
"Our women's team is facing quite an aggressive Spring schedule as we ramp up toward full standing in and preparation for competition with the NCAA," Bruins Head Women's Golf Coach Denny Scott said. "We saw great improvement in our fall season and hope to build on that this Spring."
Due to COVID, the Bruins fall season was cut short with the team only playing in two tournaments. The Bruins opened the fall season with a 3rd place finish in the Bruins Golf Classic before placing second overall in the NCCAA DI South Regional Tournament. Kate Matthews then qualified to compete in the national tournament October 19-21 in Palm Coast, Florida.
The Bruins will play in five tournaments this Spring season and face a challenging field of competition. The team will open the season on February 27 as they play in the Bruins Spring Golf Advance at Legacy Pines Golf Course in Greenville, South Carolina.
From there, the Bruins will play in tournaments in Georgia, North Carolina, and Kentucky before wrapping up the season at the Piedmont College Spring Invitational in Demorest, Georgia, on March 29.
"I believe our women's team is ready to rise to the challenge this Spring and to take our program to the next level," Coach Scott said. "I am very excited about the potential we have and the opportunities we will face."
