In preparation for the start of the regular season, the beach volleyball team made the trip to Rome, Georgia for a pair of duals against Tennessee Tech University and Berry College in their final week of preseason. The Bruins fell 5-0 in both of today's matches.
"These matches during our preseason are just what we had hoped for," said Head Coach Vickie Denny. "It allows us to try different pairs playing together and also reveal areas we still need to work on before the start of our season. Today was a great opportunity for us to see that."
On the new courts at Berry College, the Bruins began the day in a dual against the high-level Tennessee Tech University squad. Coach Denny said "the highlight of the day was our #1 pairs of Faith Blalock and Timbre Cruz taking Division 1 Tennessee Tech to an exciting three set game. While falling a bit short, it was a great dual with some great back and forth rallies." Blalock and Cruz took the first set with a 21-18 win before falling in a tight 21-19 loss in set two. Tennessee Tech battled it out in the final set to win 15-10.Â
Tennessee went on to sweep the other pairs to come out on top 5-0 against the Bruins.
