The beach volleyball team is set to host a pair of duals Tuesday afternoon at the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Bruins take to the sand against Gaston College at 2 p.m. before facing Spartanburg Methodist College at 4 p.m.
The Bruins enter the week 0-8 on the season looking for their first win of the year after falling in all four contests in Cleveland, Georgia over the weekend.
Gaston College plays the Bruins for the first time on Tuesday and come into the dual with a 1-8 season record. Over the weekend, the Rhinos played in a tournament at Spartanburg Methodist College where they fell 5-0 in all three duals. The Bruins and Rhinos will take to the court at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
For game two of the day, the Bruins will face familiar opponent Spartanburg Methodist College. Last season, the Bruins and Pioneers met four times. Through their first three meetings, the Bruins fell 2-3 to the Pioneers before closing out out their season series with a 3-2 victory. The Pioneers come into Tuesday's game 3-10 on the season after winning three out of four duals last weekend.
"We are now at the place of our season where we expect to start winning some of these close games," said Coach Denny. "We are looking forward to our first home matches on Tuesday."
Tuesday's duals are set to begin at 2 p.m. from the Upward Star Center beach courts (9768 Warren H. Abernathy Hwy.). Games are free to attend and fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
