The beach volleyball team is back at Upward Star Center for another home match Thursday afternoon as they welcome St. Andrews University to the Upstate.
On Tuesday, the Bruins hosted their first ever home matches at the Upward Star Center where they were able to secure their first two wins of the season. They got the day started with a dual against Gaston College. In the first ever meeting between the Rhinos, pairs #1, #2, #4, and #5 each won their matches in straight sets to post the first team win of the season. They then went on to face Spartanburg Methodist College. After the #4 and #5 pairs secured their matches, it came down to the #2 pairing of Faith Blalock and Andrea Villaverde who finished with two exciting sets to capture the team's 3-2 win over the Pioneers.
The Bruins come into Thursday's dual 2-8 on the season as the prepare to face St. Andrews University. The Knights are 6-12 on the season. They host Sandhills Community College on Wednesday night for a doubleheader dual before making the trip to Spartanburg.
Thursday will mark the fourth meeting between the Bruins and Knights as the two programs met earlier this season where SAU downed the Bruins in a 5-0 victory.
Thursday's dual is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. from the Upward Star Center beach courts (9768 Warren H. Abernathy Hwy.). Games are free to attend and fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
