Back at the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the Bob Jones University beach volleyball team looked to extend their winning streak as they faced St. Andrews University. The team battled but fell in a 4-1 decision. With today's result, the Bruins fall to 2-9 on the season.
"We definitely played St. Andrews better today than at our first matchup," said Head Coach Vickie Denny. "After taking a much needed spring break, the team will come back ready to finish out the rest of our season strong."
It was a beautiful afternoon as the Bruins and Knights met on the sand. Today marked the second time this season that Bob Jones played St. Andrews as the two programs met back on March 3 where the Knights finished with the 5-0 win.
Throughout today's dual, the Bruins saw improvement but only one pairing was able to pull out the win for the home team. Maddy Goldstrom and Anne Lloyd defeated St. Andrews 21-14 in set one and kept in close in set two to pull out the 21-19 win to take their match. The #5 pair has now extended their winning streak to three games.
Despite the other pairs fighting to stay in the game, at the end of the dual, it was the Knights who came out on top 4-1.
The beach team will have next week off of games before traveling to Dallas, North Carolina to play Gaston College on March 29.
