The Bob Jones University baseball team is headed back to Toccoa Falls this weekend for another series of games. This weekend, the two teams will collide for a single game on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and will finish up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m.
Last weekend, the two teams clashed for a doubleheader Saturday, but the Screaming Eagles outplayed the Bruins during both games. The Bruins record dropped to 3-15 on the season and their all-time record with TFC fell to 3-14.
Since then, the Screaming Eagles played a doubleheader against Montreat this past Monday. In game one between the Screaming Eagles and Cavaliers, the Cavs got the scoring started early and never looked back as they won 10-5. In game two, the Screaming Eagle's bats went cold and the Cavs powered past them again to win 14-4. The pair of losses dropped the Screaming Eagles record to 15-10 on the year.
The Bruins were scheduled to play against Truett McConnell this week, but the rain got the best of the day and washed away another game. The Bruins record remains unchanged heading into the weekend, but the team is hungry to deliver some more losses to their rival in Toccoa Falls, Georgia. This will be the second of three meetings between the two programs this season.
During the previous meeting, the Bruins fell behind early in the first game as the Screaming Eagles scored 13 runs in the second inning. The Bruins tried to make a late push, but fell 16-6. In the second game, the the Screaming Eagles got on the board early scoring two in the first inning. In response, the Bruins scored six runs in the third and two more runs in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead. Unfortunately, their lead was quickly chopped down as the Screaming Eagles put up four more runs in the fourth to bring the Bruins lead down to 8-6. All looked well for the Bruins until the bottom of the seventh when the Screaming Eagles scored another run to bring it 8-7. Minutes later, the bases were loaded and a grand slam by TFC ended the game 11-8.
Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday at 2:00 p.m. The series will conclude on Saturday with a doubleheader. The two teams retake the field with a scheduled first pitch at 12:00 p.m. Stay up to date with all Bruins athletics at
