Bruins Bring Home Two Wins Over Toccoa Falls

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
The Bruins were back to business today against Toccoa Falls College after dropping yesterday's game in a close 7-6 loss. Things were different today as the Bruins came away with a pair of wins over their division rival Toccoa Falls College. In game one, the Bruins took it with a 7-3 decision and in game two finished off the Screaming Eagles 5-4.

"Really proud of the work these guys have continued to put in," said Head Coach Brent Casteel. "Tonight they finally earned a couple of wins as a result. Great job from our pitching staff holding a nationally top ten ranked team to minimal runs and timely hits from our offense."

The Bruins put together nine hits in their first game to push past Toccoa Falls 7-3 in their first game of the day. Riley Ramsey finished the day three for three with a single in the first, a homerun in the third and a triple in the fifth.

The scoring didn't get started until the second inning with the Bruins getting their first run. The Screaming Eagles wasted no time responding and took the lead in the bottom of the second with two runs. Riley Ramsey's homerun in the top of the third tied the game at 2-2.

The Screaming Eagles regained their lead in the bottom of the fourth with another run to go up 3-2. The score was tied once again after the Bruins got another runner around the bases in the top of the fifth inning. The score would remain tied through the entirety of the sixth inning, but heading into the seventh is when the Bruins kicked it into high gear.

With the bases loaded, Conley Burk hit a double that would score all three runners and give the Bruins a 6-3 advantage. Later, Burk would come home from a SAC fly and put the Bruins up 7-3. Joshua Legnard would also finish what he started striking out the last batter to end the game. Legnard allowed three runs to score off just three hits while striking out nine batters.

In game two, the Screaming Eagles got on the board first scoring a single run in the first. The Bruins would get their first runs to take the lead in the third inning. Their 2-1 lead wouldn't last long though as the Screaming Eagles tied it up 2-2. Another three run inning in the fourth would give the Bruins a 5-2 lead before the bottom of the fourth would cut the lead by another run from the Screaming Eagles. The Screaming Eagles threatened again in the fifth inning, scoring another run to cut the Bruins lead again to make it 5-4. The score would remain unchanged for the remainder of the game and the Bruins would win the second game of the day.

Coach Casteel finished by saying, "If we continue to play with the focus we played with tonight, we can look forward to good results."

Up next, the Bruins will have a home game against Truett McConnell University on Tuesday April 2. First pitch between the Bruins and the Bears is scheduled for 4 p.m.
