The Bruins are on the road this weekend after a nice unplanned break. Their series against Carolina University was rained out and canceled last weekend which gave the team time to get a little extra rest as they travel to Augusta, Georgia to play against Paine College. Both teams compete in the NCCAA and are part of the south region for baseball. The Bruins and Lions are set to play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 12:00 p.m. and will finish the series on Saturday.
Paine College hold a 5-5 record this season. During Paine's last series against Lincoln University, the two teams played in a doubleheader and split the series 1-1. In game one, Paine won 4-3 over Lincoln and in game two Lincoln University stormed back to win 8-1.
The Bruins are 1-10 so far this season after picking up their first win against Guilford College on February 24. In their most recent game, they played a tough Columbia International team to a 1-0 decision. During that game, the Bruins finished with seven hits to CIU's five. Joshua Legnard threw five strong innings allowing only four hits and striking out four, but in the second inning the Ram's short stop made it all the way around the bags to score the solo run of the game.
The two teams met last year for a three game series where the Bruins went 2-1 to win the series.Â
BJU and Paine College will meet this weekend in Augusta, Georgia and will play two seven inning games Friday with a 12:00 p.m. first pitch. The final game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at noon.
