The regular season comes to close this weekend for Bruins baseball as they host Mid-Atlantic Christian University. The two programs are preparing for a single nine-inning game on both Friday and Saturday rather than playing a doubleheader. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening and on Saturday, the Bruins will be honoring their graduating seniors prior to their 12:30 p.m. start time. Additionally, the first 50 fans in attendance Friday night will receive a gift card to Spill the Beans.
The Bruins and Mustangs have previously played six times where the Mustangs lead the series 4-2. In the previous series, the Mustangs hosted a three-game set in the early parts of the 2024 season. Each game was a battle, but the Bruins couldn't quite come out on top as the Mustangs swept. The Mustangs held them 11-9, 5-4, and 11-10 after 11 innings.
Mid-Atlantic Christian University holds a 23-18 record
as they come to Greenville this weekend. They are part of the United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and compete in the New South Athletic Conference. On Wednesday, they finished a doubleheader against Virginia State University where they went 2-0. In game one, they won 6-3 and in game two they won 6-5.
The Bruins are headed into the weekend with a 9-24 record this season after finishing with a 2-1 series win last weekend against conference opponent Trinity Baptist College and picking up a midweek 9-8 win over Brevard College. The Bruins took a 1-0 lead after the first inning and then regained their lead after a five-run inning in the bottom of the second to go up 6-2. After six innings, the Bruins were up 9-2, but a seventh inning rally by the Tornados cut their lead down to 9-6. Another two runs in the top of the ninth cut the lead again, but the Bruins were able to hang on for a 9-8 win.
The Bruins are scheduled to host Mid-Atlantic Christian University Friday at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Bruins will honor their seniors during a short presentation before the scheduled start time of 12:30 p.m. Come out to Conestee Park to support and watch the Bruins take their homefield one final time this season.
