The hunt for the first win of the season continues for the women's volleyball team as they travel to Jacksonville, Florida for a weekend full games in their first tests against NCCAA South Region opponents.
The Bruins enter the weekend 0-5 on the season after falling 3-1 against a tough Spartanburg Methodist College program on Tuesday.
On Friday, the Bruins will take on Trinity Baptist College in the opening contest at TBC Eagles Gymnasium. Trinity Baptist comes into Friday's game winless after falling in three straight games over the weekend. Friday's game will mark the tenth meeting between the two programs. The Bruins have won 27 straight sets, keeping the TBC Eagles off the scoreboard in each meeting.
At the conclusion of BJU vs TBC, the Bruins will get on their bus and make the short drive to Eagles View Academy where they will take on Trinity College of Florida at 7 p.m. After defeating Trinity Baptist College in a five set contest on August 29, the Tigers lost four straight to come into the weekend with a 1-4 season record. Since their first meeting in 2016, the Bruins hold the 9-0 series record winning 27 of 27 sets played against Trinity College of Florida.
The Bruins will take on Toccoa Falls College in a 11 a.m. match at Eagles View Academy on Saturday. The Screaming Eagles split their opening tri-match falling to Brewton Parker College before sweeping Trinity Baptist College last week. Saturday will be the 25th meeting against the Georgia team with the Bruins owning the 21-3 record. Last season, the Bruins fell in a five set thriller to Toccoa Falls before winning their next two meetings.
The weekend tournament will wrap up with the Bruins taking on region rival Pensacola Christian College in their only regular season meeting this year. The Eagles are 2-1 after wins against Andrew College and Middle Georgia State University last weekend. The Bruins hope to extend their current five game winning streak against the Eagles in their 1:30 p.m. contest on Saturday. In their eight year rivalry, the Bruins are 20-2 all time against PCC. Last year from the Davis Field House, the Bruins defended their region title in a 3-0 match against the Eagles.
