Bruins Split with the Lions to End the Weekend Series

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Bruins were able to come away with a win in game one today to split the doubleheader against the Paine College Lions.

Game one today was an absolute thriller. After the Lions got out in front in the second inning, the Bruins answered right back with an RBI single from Cody Kirkpatrick.

In the third inning, the Lions got out in front again and the Bruins then responded again in a big way in the top of the fourth. It started with Zay Brandt hitting a two-out double to score Sam Gonzalez. After a lot of misthrows by the Lions defense, the Bruins were able to load the bases, and Cayden Kennedy hit a bases-clearing double. Paine answered right back with a bases-clearing double themselves to make the score 7-6 after four innings.

In the fifth inning, the Bruins bats stayed hot starting with Zay Brandt tallying another RBI on a double that scored Elijah Medrano. The Bruins were able to score a couple more runs on a walk and on a wild pitch to make the score 10-7.

The Lions answered back again and tied the game in the 6th inning. The Bruins bats clutched up just enough to score a run in the seventh on an RBI double from Conley Burke before Gabriel Swarms struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Bruins came away with a thrilling 11-10 win.

The bats for the Bruins did not stay hot for game two on the day. With the exception of Cayden Kennedy hitting a ground rule double for an RBI in the fourth inning, the Bruins struggled to get hits. The Lions were able to grow the lead throughout the game to win 6-1.

The Bruins are back in action on Tuesday, March 11 when they welcome Defiance College to Conestee Park. The doubleheader games are scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
