Women's Soccer Team Extends Winning Streak to 14 Games with 3-2 Win Over Warren Wilson

Box Score

In the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, the women's soccer team played to a 3-2 victory over Warren Wilson College earning their fourteenth straight win Tuesday afternoon.

"We had a rough time getting into a rhythm and played really impatiently. Our technique continued to let us down as we struggled with our touches," said Head Coach Chris Carmichael. "The defensive live did a great job staging our attacks. Warren Wilson did a good job playing a very physical match which caused quite a few problems when it shouldn't have. Despite the struggles, we were able to sustain enough on the attacking side to create some nice goal scoring opportunities and finishes."

In their last 12 matches, the Bruins have been first to score and today they would stay on trend as Caroline Hartzler would sail the ball to Kayle Stevenson off of a corner kick who would volley it into the back of the net and score for the Bruins.

Anna Grace Abrams sent the ball to Mia Marks would increase their team lead to 2-0. The third goal for the Bruins would go to Anna Grace Abrams as her shot was deflected off of an Owls defender and into the back of the net.

"Our substitutes were able to come into the first half and make an immediate positive impact," said Carmichael. " They were able to help our team get back to playing our style of play. Kayle Stevenson, Anna Grace Abrams and Mia Marks worked well together to get some nice finishes and created a number of goal scoring opportunities."

Warren Wilson would earn a penalty kick in the second half where the ball would slip right past Bruins goalkeeper Brianna Hilton's fingers bringing the score to 3-1. Picking up a lot of momentum coming off of their PK goal, the Owls were able to get on the score sheet once again with around 10 minutes remaining.

The Bruins were able to hold on to their lead to give Warren Wilson their 12th loss of the season while improving to 15-1 overall.

The women's soccer team is back home this Friday at 7:00 p.m. as they take on Regent University for Senior Night at Alumni Stadium.
